Eat to Live: A Healthy Sensory Cooking Experience for the Visually Impaired

Join us at The Kitchen by Cooking With Que for a unique 2-3-hour, hands-on cooking experience created specifically for individuals who are visually impaired.

Through our Eat to Live Initiative, participants will explore healthy cooking through touch, smell, taste, sound, and guided instruction. This supportive and engaging class is designed to help participants build confidence in the kitchen while learning simple ways to prepare nutritious meals that support a healthy and happy lifestyle.

During the class, participants will learn about:

  • What a complete and balanced meal looks like

  • The 70/30 eating approach: 70% fruits and vegetables and 30% everything else

  • Portion control

  • Shopping for a healthier lifestyle

  • Reading and understanding food labels

  • Identifying healthier food choices

  • Proper food storage and reducing food waste

  • Creating new meals from leftovers

  • Eating the rainbow and understanding the benefits of different fruits and vegetables

  • Making food choices that may help reduce the risk of diabetes, high blood pressure, and other diet-related health concerns

Participants will work alongside Chef Que to prepare a healthy meal and enjoy the meal together at the end of class.

*SUPPORT COMPANION REQUIREMENT*

Each participant must attend with one support companion. A support companion may be a family member, friend, caregiver, aide, guide, or another trusted individual who can assist during the hands-on cooking experience. The support companion is included in the ticket price and will also receive a meal.

Participants who do not have a support companion available may request one provided by The Kitchen By Cooking With Que. Please select the appropriate option during booking.

**CLASS SIZE POLICY - To ensure a fun and engaging experience, each of our cooking classes requires a minimum number of 10 participants. If a class doesn’t meet the minimum enrollment, we will need to cancel class. In such cases, registered guests will be notified via email (PLEASE PROVIDE VALID EMAIL ADDRESS AT BOOKING) and offered the option to move to a future class date.
